In fact, I love January. The newness it symbolises. The optimism. The opportunity. The first of twelve months with endless possibilities. It might be a cliché, but I take the new year, new me attitude very seriously.
What I don't take too seriously is New Year's resolutions. I still bite my nails, speak only a handful of words in Arabic, and never continue journaling past the middle of Jan, despite these being top of my resolutions list year in, year out. But I hope to change that this year. So I'm holding myself – and the rest of Team What's On – accountable for our New Year's resolutions, by penning them for all to see on p11.
But enough about me, this issue is all about you. Because there's no better time than January for a little self-improvement. Maybe you want to eat clean after an indulgent Christmas, or your 2023 focus is to learn a new skill, or perhaps you're making your mental health a priority this year. Whatever your goals, from p15 prepare to get inspired with everything from fun fitness and homegrown beauty to the latest in wellness and innovative classes to help you upskill. This issue is all about encouraging us all to be the best versions of ourselves in 2023.
Another pledge I'm making this year, more of a conscious decision than a resolution, is to shop local. I'm ending my long-term relationship with Amazon in favour of discovering homegrown businesses. There really has never been a better time to discover small local brands, and I'm cheerleading them all the way. Join me on p42.
Enjoy the issue,
