I'd let her know that the next decade will look nothing like the one she so carefully mapped out in those late teenage years. I've been reflecting a lot on the last 10 years as I turn 30 this month. And one thing is for sure; my twenties were nothing like how I imagined – and I'm rather thankful for it. I've had my horizons expanded to lengths greater than I ever could have imagined. I've said yes to things that have catapulted me out of my comfort zone, both metaphorically and physically (the latter, with thanks to a human slingshot that popped up on Kite Beach in my days as a junior reporter at What's On). And one of the biggest lessons I've learned is that you are responsible for your own happiness, so the best thing you can do is build a life that brings you joy.
Which is exactly what I hope this issue does for you. We've filled it with 29 date ideas – one for every day of this leap year month. This February, we're declaring dinner-and-drinks out, and doing something out-of-the-box in. Because even if you don't make it to date two, an evening spent making your own fragrance, learning to salsa or axe throwing makes for a for more interesting group chat debrief than a meal a deux. And if love blooms, it'll be a great story to tell the grandkids.
Enjoy the issue,
