One of the great joys of being on team What's On is perpetually being surrounded by foodies. We agree on a lot of things, we disagree on plenty more. But one thing we are universally aligned on is our deep-rooted love for burgers. Whether it's a group lunch order when only carbs will do, or we're sharing weekend cheat meals, more times than not, our conversations revert to burgers. To chicken or beef? How much cheese is too much cheese? Which sauce really belongs on a burger? We've debated it all.
But we won't be gatekeeping our findings from careers carved around rating and reviewing the city's juiciest patties and fluffiest buns. Which is why this issue is dedicated to a food that deserves its place among the greats: the humble burger. But we're not talking your run-of-the-mill fast-food joints. Oh no. For this issue, we're taking a deep dive into Dubai's deserving gourmet burger scene, to discover which buns really deserve your dirhams.
We know what makes the perfect burger may be subjective, which is why we've carefully considered several factors, from juiciness of meat and tastiness of the flavours, to the customizability. We take our burgers seriously, after all. Come hungry to p17 and cast your own vote.
This month we're also making a case for our city's beloved shopping malls, because the key to surviving hot summer days is spending as much time as possible where's it's always a cool 23 Degrees. But there's more to these malls than just shopping, with rollercoasters, escape rooms and even indoor skydiving to check out from p22. We won't let the summer heat stop us getting our thrills.
