Dubai Entertainment - Things to Do in Dubai

Kish here bringing you the awesome Dubai entertainment options!

Dubai is one of the most happening cities in the world today. Dubai is also often referred to as the City of Gold, Festival City, and the Shopping Capital of the Middle East. Dubai has dramatically transformed ever since I moved there in 1994.

As far as Dubai entertainment is concerned, Dubai City can easily be compared to cities like New York, London, Paris, etc. In fact, you will find everything that all these different cities have to offer in one hot spot location; you got it right- Dubai!

One of my best experiences in Dubai as a resident or a tourist is the Arabian Adventures Desert Safari, which consists of everything from dune bashing in Dubai and camel rides to barbeque in the desert and belly dancing.

Some of the other attractions of Dubai include the various parks in Dubai, shopping malls,  Dubai nightlife and restaurants.

And if you don't have time to go to so many places in one trip, no worries. One visit to the Mall of the Emirates (MOE) will give you a taste of what Dubai has to offer.

Currently the largest mall in the Middle East, MOE (as the general public would call it) consists of about 2,400,000 sq feet of shopping space, gaming area, movie theatres, art gallery, and mouth watering cuisines from all around the world. Its biggest claim to fame is the indoor ski slope, Ski Dubai.

Dubai Festival City, known as the World Class Waterfront Lifestyle Resort is another not to be missed destination. It consists of shopping, dining, entertainment, homes, schools, hotels, and offices in one place. This sub area of Dubai City gives a good microcosm of what Dubai entertainment is all about!

Spread along the Dubai creek, it gives a feel of the river walk in San Antonio (hey I live in Texas now!), only a much cleaner and nicer version. And then there is the ever popular Dubai Gold Market or Souk. Souk means a traditional market in Arabic.

Set in the heart of eastern Dubai's commercial business district Deira, this souk literally has gold everywhere. There are narrow lanes (like the alleys in Manhattan, but less scary), streets and buildings full of gold and diamonds in this area and people from all over the world trade almost exclusively in jewelry.

The souk has a lot to offer such as earrings, bracelets, pendants, rings, and necklaces. Just a fast fact- at any given time, over 25 tones of gold is show cased at the Gold Souk.

Moving on to Dubai's night life, little did I know that there is so much in Dubai. After all, I was only 17 when I moved out- not quite the partying age!

Although, thanks to my frequent trips back to the city, I have come to discover that the bars in Dubai can be easily compared to hot and happening cities like Manhattan, Vegas, and Miami.

Bars and clubs easily stay open till 3 am and are situated all around the city in big touristy hotels. Big name DJ's are quite common in Dubai and dress codes are generally relaxed, although some do not allow jeans, sandals, or trainers. Dubai nightlife is a big piece of the complete Dubai entertainment package!

For a more mellow night out, you can chill at a coffee shop by the waterfront and smoke a smooth flavored tobacco from a shisha (hookah) pipe. Most coffee shops and restaurants stay open till midnight or later, especially on the weekends. Or you can always kick back home and entertain yourself with great Dubai TV viewing.

Last but certainly not least, Dubai restaurants consist of flavors from all around the world. From road side shawarmas (Middle Eastern style sandwich) and cocktail juices, to scrumptious meals in fascinating hotels, no food junky can leave this city disappointed. If you love food, Dubai City is the place for you!

I can vouch for this from personal experience since I love to eat! Whether it's midnight or late afternoon, you will definitely find a place open to satisfy your taste buds.
